What I discovered was an enjoyable verse-by-verse journey through SOS peppered with the kinds of jokes and personal stories used at marriage seminars that I imagine make people simultaneously laugh and feel a little judged. Here, however, many contained gross stereotypes and made men look dumb, or at least inferior to women. Ultimately I struggled to finish this book, another reason for a 3 from me. Without an effort to explain his view or persuade his readers of its place in our current cultural climate, I believe his perspective would turn off a lot of readers I know. Though I'm unfamiliar with this author, I had hopes that it would be as rich and meaningful as Tim Keller's book The Meaning of Marriage, which I loved.
